If you are looking for fun family things, or just things to do for couples, here are a few of our favorite places and things to do:
-Ripley's Aquarium is perfect for adults and kids.
-Rainforest Zoo is another great thing for kids and adults. We went without the kids once because I love zoos. But we were pretty disappointed because when we went, we saw they had axolotls for sale. I didn't have a tank or anything so I didn't get one, but we planned another trip for 2 months so the kids could get one. We got a tank all set up at home and got everything it would need, we made our trip back and when we go to buy it, they had increased the price of them by 50% because of their popularity. We were so disappointed and left without one. We ended up getting an aquatic frog elsewhere, but that was a real bummer.
-The Island has a lot of fun things to do, places to shop and eat, but it is usually very busy and pretty expensive. We waited in line for an hour for the kids to jump on a trampoline, so we don't go there much.
-Wonderworks is an absolute fave! We love it! It is a really cool interactive museum with all kinds of exhibits and even rides and a ropes course. There is a bed of nails you can lay on too!
-Beyond the Lens was a little similar to Wonderworks but instead of science related, it was more technology related. It had some super cool photo ops and we loved it!
-Smoky Mountain Deer Farm is a really cool little place that you can ride a pony and go in the pen and feed goats and deer. They have all kinds of animals like rabbits, bulls, camels, llamas, alpacas and more that you can feed. Our only complaint was that they make you listen to a long speech about the animals and which ones you can feed and all about them before you go in, which is fine and beneficial. But we had just been there very recently and they still made us listen to this speech, but this time the woman went on and on and on and on.
-Country Barn Photo Park is a new little selfie park inside the Country Barn Store. There is no fee to get in, all you have to do is walk in there and then there are all kinds of things to take selfies or photos with.
-Ober Gatlinburg was a really fun place to visit for the day. The ski lift at the top is super super long. There is ice skating, bumper cars, an animal exhibit and a few other things at the top.
-Anakeesta is always packed for a reason! It is so much fun. You ride a ski lift to the top and then there are all kinds of fun things at the top. You can walk a treetops trail through the woods, a few little treehouses for the kids to play on, stores, restaurants, a viewing tower and more. Since we have gone, they have added some new things, so we can't wait to go back and check them out.
-SkyLift is another ski lift in the area. It was the first ski lift we had done. It was a cool ride to the top and walking across the bridge was cool, but I'd rather spend my money at Anakeesta where there are cool things to do at the top. There are new additions since we have been there, so there may be more at the top now!
-Space Needle was a cool viewing tower to see the whole town of Gatlinburg. We got to go up twice within 24 hours of your purchase. So you could see it in the day and at night if you would like.
-Ripley's Haunted Adventure was a really fun experience. I love haunted houses. It was really cool and there were some parts that were awesome. Some of the stuff looked way too fake though and that was disappointing come from Ripleys, especially when the attraction is always there and isn't changed up frequently. I just expected a little better. Probably not one of the attractions for kids.
-Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the most visited national parks for a reason. It's beauty is astounding. There are so many different places to go visit within the park and there is so much wildlife to see. Whether you want to hike or just have a picnic, go check out Cade's Cove, Oconoluftee Village, Laurel Falls, Clingman's Dome, the abandoned town of Elkmont and so much more!
-Amusement Parks-There are so many small amusement parks scattered throughout PF that you can go to for kiddie rides, go carts and arcades. We usually went to Fast Tracks but we will not be going there anymore. They have 7 kiddie rides and the last time we went, they didn't tell us that 3 were closed, and the swings had an age limit of 8. Which is funny cause my 9 year old is smaller than my 7 year old. So we felt like we were just trying to spend our tickets on 3 rides instead of just having fun. They went down the slide a few times and they didn't hear the woman telling them they could go twice per ticket cause the go carts and her fan was so loud. So she got a big attitude and yelled at them.
New things will be added as we go. These are just a few of some of the things we love to do and would be great for you to check out!
