Visiting Providence Canyon was such a great experience that I highly recommend any state park/hiking lovers to do. It was so cool to see and I actually didn't even know it was here until I started my state park bucket list. There is nowhere to stay at the park unless you want to primitive camp (hike in camping) but just about 20 minutes away is Florence Marina State Park, which is where we stayed. The day that we had gone had just had some heavy rains, so they told us the bottom of the canyon would be super muddy, so we mostly just walked along the top. You can walk in the canyon, or you can walk along the top and it is a very easy walk. It did get pretty dang hot though, so bring your water. There are even a few places that you could drive up and just look at the canyon, for those who may not be able to hike much. There is also a very old church and cemetery that were cool to see and learn the history of. The Visitor Center is nice and newly built. You can sit out on some rocking chairs or have a picnic there. There was a little station inside the Visitor Center where you can make your own little sand art souvenir thing. My kids loved making one. We ended up having to leave and go back to Florence Marina because a massive heavy rain came down. It seems that area got a lot of very quick, heavy rain and thunderstorms and then would pass quickly.
