Nestled right in the mountains of North Georgia, in Rabun County, sits the state park with the highest elevation in GA. And boy can you tell with those mountain views! Black Rock Mtn is about an hour drive from us in Blairsville, so we just took a day trip here. I have wanted to go back for awhile because the beauty of this place is just astounding. You can hike all over this park, or you can simply drive up to the overlooks, pull over and see the amazing views without a walk. The Visitor Center is decently large with a lot of good stuff, but it has amazing mountain views as well. Oh to see that everyday! This park has a nice little campground up in the mountain, secluded pretty well. There is also a small little lake that you can walk around.

We did not stay in the cabins here, so I cannot speak on them, but I have seen that people love them. They have redone the cabins since we did go here, so they are newly updated. GA State Parks seem to be going through each park and updating and remodeling their cabins. Having kids, of course we had to stop at the playground. This park only had the one playground in the cabin area. We usually try not to use campground or cabin playgrounds unless we are staying there. There is no swimming in the lake but you can fish.

Overall, definitely a good day visit for some hiking and amazing mountain views. It is a phenomenal spot for just wanting to camp or stay in a cabin, but if you are looking for something with a little more for the kids, like swimming or putt putt, probably not the best place.
