Vogel State Park

Vogel State Park is another hands down absolute favorite of not only us, but many. Nestled right in the mountains of Blairsville, GA, it's location is gold. It is out of the way on Blood Mountain, with it's own little lake-Lake Tralyhta...named after a Native American princess. I live in Blairsville, so I have grown up coming to Vogel, and I remember it from many years ago. I've paddle boated this lake many times, swam in it, broken the rules and jumped off the lake pavilion, played putt putt, had family reunions and birthday parties here.

We have stayed in the cabins here many times, and they are all newly renovated. They are very cute. You can get 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms, and they all come with a small living room, bathroom, full kitchen, chairs or swing outside, fire pit, picnic table and grill. We love Vogel because of how rustic it is and how much history there is here. We're not too thrilled about the new massive visitor center being built, which the last time we stayed, our cabin was right beside all the construction, so that was the view we had sitting on our porch. But another reason we love Vogel is that there is so much to do here-hiking, swimming, boat rentals, putt putt, playgrounds, fishing, camping and cabins. The campground is very popular and people will book up the sites quick-especially holidays. They go all out for Halloween. We love that you are able to walk anywhere in the park. A lot of parks you have to drive a good ways to get to the cabins or get to the Visitor Center, etc. At Vogel, you can drive, but you can walk. We love small quaint parks like that. Seeing Vogel in the fall is such an awesome experience. The pictures just don't do it justice. The browns and oranges and reds are so vibrant. We try to get there every Fall to just walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.
