Tugaloo State Park

We have stayed at Tugaloo in the yurts a couple of times. My sister used to live about 5 minutes from here, so we would come and stay sometimes to visit with her. The park itself is not bad. There's quite a bit to do for the kids. They can swim, play putt putt, playgrounds, hike, etc. The lake felt amazing. We did not play putt putt because the course was very plain. There were no objects to hit the ball around or under and it didn't seem worth the money at all. You can camp, stay in a cabin or in yurts.

The yurts are just like the other yurts in GA with a bunkbed, couch/futon, table and chairs, shelf, porch with chairs, fire pit, grill and picnic table. The bathrooms are at the very top where you park. We were lucky to get Yurt 1 both times, so we did not have to carry our stuff in really far or walk really far to the bathrooms. But the other yurts are down in the hill a bit, and you have to carry your stuff in. There is a little hidden beach area down there that we would go swim in sometimes.

For the most part, we enjoyed our stays, but there were a couple of things that happened that we didn't particularly like: 1. At right after 7, a ranger came down and told us they were closing the lake area for the night. That was really early as there was over an hour of daylight left. 2. There was a large group of people at the pavilion by the lake grilling out, which is completely fine, but they were blasting their music super loud. We like to hear nature at the parks. 3. At 11 pm, we were laid down for bed when we hear voices RIGHT outside our yurt. There were 2 busloads full of teens and they were standing right in our yard talking. They knocked on our door cause they couldn't get in their yurt. We told them we were just guests, and what to do. They proceeded to knock on our door OVER AND OVER until after midnight. They kept asking us to give them the code for the door, which we did not have. We tried calling the park manager over and over with no answer. They then proceeded to yell, play music and party til well after 4 am. The next morning, two other people from other yurts were so mad and they complained to us about it. We told the camp host who notified the manager. Another yurt had a single mom alone with her two young kids and she said she didn't sleep at all cause she was a bit scared. There is supposed to be a manager on call 24/7 to handle these types of things.

Overall:
