Whistle Stop Cafe-Juliette, GA

We visited this cute little town when we stayed at Indian Springs State Park. It was only about a 20 minute drive. My mom and I have been Fried Green Tomatoes fans for many years, and we've always wanted to come here. I got to go about 2 years ago but did not get to eat at the cafe, so this time we were going to. There was only about a 30 minute wait, so it wasn't too bad and we were able to look around a bit while we waited. The train came by and it was so awesome to see, although it was LOUD. Seeing the inside of the cafe was so awesome. However, we were highly disappointed in the food and the price. Out of four of us, not a single one of us liked our food. The fried green tomatoes were really good, but the BBQ tasted like canned bbq. The sauce was way too spicy, the creamed corn was a weird blend of sweet and too much pepper, the rice was just plain white rice...no seasoning, no butter, nothing. And then for 2 adults and 2 children to eat at a cafe, it cost me $100! So to say we were very let down was an understatement. I know there is no way that detective ate 4 plates of THAT BBQ.. I know Big George ain't cook like that. Anyway, walking through the town made up for all of it. All of the people were so nice, and the stores were really cool. We got so many souvenirs and we got to see the BBQ pit, Smokey Lonesome's shed, Buddy Jr's arm's grave, Ruth & Idgie's house, the River Club, the church and Ruth and Buddy's graves. Not all of the stores are about the movie. A couple of them were just regular antique stores and other odds and ends. I do wish they didn't allow parking a long the street because people want to take pictures and its hard with cars all in the way. I'm very happy that all of the buildings are original. One of the shopkeepers said that she gets asked a lot why they don't tear all the buildings down and just rebuild them to look like the movie. Why? Why? Why? Seeing the original building is what all the nostalgia was about.
