Amicolola Falls is an absolutely beautiful state park. It's very popular for a reason. There is a lot to do here if you are wanting to stay in the lodge or camp, or if you just want to come for a day of picnicking, or to hike the falls. The falls are what really draw people in, and you can hike up to the top. For those who don't want to hike, you can drive up to the top also, although you get much better views of the falls hiking. At the bottom is a small pool-like area (not for swimming) where we saw some crawfish. There are a lot of beautiful areas for day use, with a playground, and there is a Zipline.
Amicolola is not a part of the GA state parks rewards program, so you won't earn any points and can't use any points there. That's a bit of a bummer for us. We have not stayed in the lodge, but we had some friends that had their wedding there and said the lodge was very nice, but they didn't feel the park offered much for kids. I kind of agree when I visited. When we stay, we prefer places that you can at least swim. If there's a lake, I can keep these kids entertained. But for just a day of fun, it was really great and we really liked it. We played on the playground, and I relaxed on a little swing while the kids played. We drove to the top of the falls because we had to get back home and didn't have the time to hike it, but I would like to go back and do that. The views at the top are phenomenal.
The lodge was located up at the top, I believe, and every room is supposed to offer phenomenal views. There is a restaurant located inside the lodge, and if you don't want to stay there, there is a campground. They now offer safari tents as well for those who want a glamping experience.
